White Water Rafting in Kithulgala on the Kalani River

 Hello there fellow travelers,

I just wanted to update everyone on our white water rafting adventure on the Kalani River.  Yesterday morning we got up bright and early and enjoyed breakfast at the hotel restaurant.  Then we picked up our 6 seater van from the ariport we had rented to drive to Kitulgala.  The rental fee was $109.46.  It took us about two and half hours to drive the 80 kilometers to and from Kitulgala.  It cost us about $26 in gas round trip.  What a deal at 27/kpm.  After much research we decided to book our trip through borderlands because of high quality gear and well trained staff.    Our package was about  $35/person  and it included all of our saftey gear and pre-rapid instruction as well as lunch and tea.  We tackled seven rapids in all, two being the "Killer Fall" and the "Rib Cage".  They sound a lot scarier than they actually were, the hardest being grade two to three rapids.  Along the way, we hiked down a side canyon, lounged around in some wade pools and slid down some natural slides.  It was quite an adventure.
