The Reviews were on Point!

We arrived at the  Albareda Youth Hostel around 11 am.  After reading all the positive reviews on this place, let's just say it did not disappoint.  The lady behind the counter was great. We were all tired after our long flight and wanted to get settled in and relax, as well as look for a good lunch spot.  We were introduced to everyone who was hanging out in the great room.  People were playing guitars, surfing the internet, watching tv, and just relaxing.  Right away it was a really good vibe.  Then we were shown to our rooms, which were very clean and accomodating, as promised.  It was a small spot but that lended to a friendlier feel and not too much noise or overcrowding.  And it was located within walking distance of many historic sites, cultural events, restaurants, and night life.  Our host recommended a cheap and yummy little spot within walking distance called El Convent for lunch.  It was only about 10 Euros per meal, so about $13 us dollars.  We enjoyed the authentic Catalan cuisine.  I enjoyed the Ollada, a meat and vegetable stew, along with Pa amb tomaquet, almost like pizza, a bread smeared with tomato and oil, and garlic and a fantastic glass of red wine.  We have Continental breakfast here every morning.  It was very basic, toast and jam, cereal, etc.  but they have great coffee, which gets me out of bed in the morning.  : )  And there are always friendly faces waiting, although sometimes hungover from the pub crawl the night before.  Some of the highlights of staying here: The warm water for every shower (I need hot showers) and always clean bathrooms, the awesome people we met, and I have to mention Sangria night (pitcher upon pitcher of sangria and everyone made a dish from their neck of the woods) great international food!!!
