Singapore: Night Safari

Oh boy,

When I heard that we had some cash that needing to be spent I decided to step my plans up a little bit. Usually when I'm planning for a natural site I'd aim for the botanical gardens and the free stuff. With us being in such a diverse ecosystem then we are accustomed to I decided to see what sorts of wildlife Singapore had in store for us. We had all been to a zoo at least once, in the states or somewhere along the trip, but none of us had ever been on a night safari. It's really unique in that it is the world's first wildlife park build for visits at night. We got there right in time for the creatures of the night show, which was quite a show. Luckily we got there early enough that we were right up front and we were so close to being selected to volunteer, can't say we didn't try. After the show some of use took to the tram while some took the trails. It was like we were in the safari, there were bats and flying squirrels gliding right next to you but we got to see a little bit of everything.

They even had a fancy cultural dinner special. We sat down at the local cafe in the park and the Borean Tribal Performers began to walk and dance around us as we ate, quite the experience. They had a bus route that could take you out of the park and after a long day we just took a taxi 30 minutes back to the hostel.
Each ticket was $32.00 US dollars and it included a show, tram ride around the park and bus ride out of the park. The meals were separate at the cafe and totaled $40.00 US dollars for all of us. With the taxi, tickets and food on the day our total came out to $262.00 US dollars, I ended up getting a poster too...
Until Next Time
